Real Estate Project Launch Windows: What SEO Can Do in 8 Weeks
You have eight weeks to launch. An agency promises SEO results inside them. One of you is going to be wrong, and it is worth establishing which before the budget is committed.
In this article
Two clocks that do not match
A launch window is fixed. The campaign starts, the inventory opens, and in eight or twelve weeks it is substantially done.
Search does not work on that clock. A new page on a developer domain typically takes days to weeks to index, then longer to settle at a position. Competitive locality terms take months. Nothing about that is negotiable by spending more.
But “SEO is too slow for a launch” is also wrong, and it is wrong in a way that costs developers real enquiries. Some things land fast. The trick is knowing which, and not buying the rest.
Project-name searches are nearly uncontested. Locality terms are a different sport with a different clock.
What genuinely lands in eight weeks
Your own project name
This is the one that matters and the one most developers lose. When the hoardings go up and the print runs, people search the project name. If you do not have a dedicated indexed page for it, the portals take that traffic — and they are bidding on your brand with your inventory.
Competition for your project name is thin by definition. A proper page, indexed and internally linked, can hold it within weeks rather than months.
Indexation of new pages
Pages published and submitted early in the window are generally crawled and indexed well inside eight weeks, particularly on a domain with existing authority. This is the single highest-value thing to do first, because nothing else works until it happens.
The RERA number search
Low volume, extremely high intent. Buyers check the portal and search the number. Almost nobody optimises for it.
Google Business Profile for the site office
Category corrections and profile completion can move local visibility within two to six weeks because no content has to mature first.
Technical fixes that unblock everything else
Projects trapped in tabs, modals or PDFs. Giving each one a real URL is a development task measured in days, and it is usually the difference between ranking and not.
What does not
Being equally plain about this, because this is where agencies oversell.
- Competitive locality terms. “2 BHK in Thane” belongs to portals with thousands of listings and a decade of links. Not in eight weeks, not in eight months
- A new domain ranking for anything meaningful. If the project has its own microsite on a fresh domain, assume it ranks for the project name and nothing else during the window
- Backlink authority. Links accumulate over quarters. Anyone promising a measurable authority shift inside a launch is describing something you should not buy
- Recovering from a late start. Work beginning in week six lands after the window closes. The fix will be correct and it will be worthless
The months before registration
The real answer to the eight-week problem is that the work should not start at week one.
You cannot advertise or solicit bookings for an unregistered project — that is a penalty of up to 10% of estimated project cost under Section 59, and a “soft launch” is not an exemption. But you can build developer brand and locality awareness, and that is where the pre-launch window is wasted.
What can be published before registration:
- Locality and micro-market pages carrying ground truth — commute times at 9am, school admissions reality, water and power, infrastructure that is actually under construction
- Developer credibility content — completed projects, delivery record, construction standards. This ranks for your company name and is what a buyer checks after seeing a hoarding
- Technical architecture — the template every future project page will use, built and tested on existing projects
- Google Business Profile for the head office, with reviews accumulating
Three months of that before registration changes what eight weeks can deliver, because by launch the domain has topical relevance for the locality and Google already crawls it regularly.
An eight-week sequence
Assuming registration is in hand and nothing was done beforehand.
- Week 1 — project page live with full specification, carpet areas, RERA disclosure block, floor plans as HTML. Submitted for indexing the day it ships
- Week 1 — internal links from the homepage and projects index. Not just the menu
- Week 2 — configuration pages where volume justifies it. 2 BHK and 3 BHK as separate URLs if they are separately searched
- Week 2 — Google Business Profile for the site office, categories correct
- Weeks 3–4 — locality page, if one does not exist. This is the piece with the longest tail and it will not pay inside the window
- Weeks 3–4 — FAQ content answering what the sales team is actually being asked on calls
- Weeks 5–6 — first construction update, dated. Begins the freshness pattern that matters later
- Weeks 7–8 — measure project-name searches, portal positions for your own name, and enquiry quality by source
What happens after launch
Most developers stop here, and that is the expensive mistake.
The project page built during launch keeps earning for as long as the project exists — through possession, through resale enquiries, and as the credibility evidence for your next launch. A page that is updated quarterly compounds; one abandoned at launch decays.
The developers who win project-name searches consistently are not the ones who spend more per launch. They are the ones whose previous eleven project pages are still live, still accurate and still indexed, so the twelfth launches onto a domain Google already trusts for that locality.

Questions
Can SEO deliver results within an eight-week project launch?
For some things, yes. Your own project name, the RERA number, indexation of new pages and Google Business Profile for the site office can all move inside eight weeks. Competitive locality terms and backlink authority cannot — those take quarters.
Why do portals outrank us for our own project name?
Usually because there is no separate page for the project. If the project opens in a tab, a modal or a PDF, Google has nothing to rank. A portal with one thin feed-assembled page beats your eleven-project page every time.
What can we publish before RERA registration?
Developer brand and locality awareness content — completed project records, micro-market pages, delivery credentials. What you cannot do is solicit bookings for an unregistered project, which carries a penalty of up to 10% of estimated project cost.
Should a project have its own microsite or sit on the main domain?
On the main domain, in nearly every case. A fresh domain starts with no authority and will rank for the project name and little else during a launch window. A page on an established developer domain inherits everything that domain has earned.
What is the single highest-value thing to do first?
Give the project a real URL with the full specification as HTML, and get it indexed. Nothing else in the sequence works until that exists, and it is usually a development task measured in days.
